See scan – perfect condition. This is an absolutely scarce and truly one of a kind early Victorian era circa 1860 solid carved gold insect brooch / broche pin of a bee probably made in England during those days. The whole insect jewel is paved with 38 old mine cut diamonds in an open setting as well as having a single old European brilliant cut centerpiece diamond of an approximate weight of 0.25 carats. The bee also has 2 cabochon cut ruby eyes and scarcest of all is the abdomen back body part of the bee which is made out of a superb single piece briolette cut and faceted dark green Colombian emerald with i4 transparency and average weight of about 2.5 carats. The bee without the pin underneath measures 18.5mm x 18.2 mm and the attached pin below is 38mm long including a special hook so that the brooch can be used as a pendant, i.e. transformable. This is one of the most important such Victorian insects brooches we’ve seen for sale and specially with that fantastic Colombian briolette cut emerald. Please, note that the image does not show the real intense dark green color of the emerald drop. This important jewel comes with COA and provenance. Similar pieces of rare Victorian insect jewels can be compared and observed at the famous "S.J.Phillips" and "Bentley & Skinner" collections in London.
