See scan - perfect condition. This is a scarce Georgian or early Victorian insect brooch in the form of a large butterfly. The brooch / broch has a great gold base all carved with ornaments and on top is another sterling silver base with open set rose cut diamonds and rubies paved on top of the body of the butterfly. There are about 44 diamonds and 27 ruby gem stones. The butterfly also has 2 ruby eyes. Scarce is also the cloisonne like blue and white enamel covering all four wings of the insect. Everything is absolutely intact and no restorations are made whatsoever. This antique jewelry brooch is a stunning 60mm wide across the wings and 45mm tall across the body. Fantastic antique jewelry / jewellery collector piece and one of the rarest Georgian or early Victorian enameled diamond butterfly insect brooches we've seen offered for sale.
